Auto-Reject overview

Auto-Reject allows you to reject candidates whose application submissions match certain conditions automatically. Rejection conditions apply to the selected application form for a given job. For example, if you have a location-based application question, you can configure a rule to automatically reject candidates located outside of the targeted area.

How to set up an auto-reject configuration

To set up an Auto-Reject condition, navigate to Jobs→Admin and select a job. Within the job, navigate to the Automation tab in the Job Postings section. This tab contains job-specific automation options including automatic Application Confirmation emails and Auto-Reject. Click Create a Configuration, then configure the fields highlighted below.

This screenshot highlights 6 key areas of auto-reject configuration setup:

  1. Conditions will be run in order, and if a candidate is rejected by one, future conditions will be skipped. If a rejection condition is empty, it will be skipped.
  2. The Rejection Condition the based on application questions. Select a question and configure the conditional behavior. For example, if the rejection condition is 'Application Form's Name contains A', 'Aaron' would be rejected, Bob' would not be.
  3. The Archive Reason is added to the candidate profile when an application is auto-rejected using the rejection condition.
  4. Configure the number of business days to delay the rejection email to candidates.
  5. Select the rejection email template to send to the candidate. These must be preconfigured in Email Templates.
  6. Select the from address the rejection email is sent from.

Once configured, and activated, Auto-Reject will evaluate all new applications. Auto-reject doesn't currently support applying the rule to historical applications.

How to edit an auto-reject configuration

When there is an active configuration (and Auto-Reject is enabled), to edit you'll need to create a new draft condition. The active condition will continue to run until the draft condition is activated. To edit, click View Current Configuration, then Create a New Draft... Configure the draft condition, then click Activate.
