Section overview:
Setting up the integration
- Navigate to the Sterling Check Integration
- Select the way you’d like to add assessments to candidate profiles (see Using the Integration for more information)
- Input your Sterling Check
Client Secret and Client ID (you may need to get in touch with Sterling Check for this)
- Generate an Ashby API Key (see How do I generate an API key? for more information)
- Please ignore Staging base URL

Once the initial setup is complete, you will see the option to enable syncing for Bill Code and Sub Account custom fields. Use the Target Field Type field to determine the custom field type you’d like to create in Ashby to sync to Sterling Check. You can choose from candidate, job or opening custom field types.

Once you’ve configured your custom field sync settings, click Sync Custom Fields to create the new custom fields in Ashby. Information added to these fields in Ashby will be synced to Sterling Check.
Using the integration
There are three configuration options:
- Adding reference requests one-off
- From the candidate profile, click ‘Add Activity’ to generate a Sterling activity. Then, follow the steps on the activity that appears.
- Configuring them on the interview plan
- Visit the settings of a job and add the activity to the reference check stage of your interview plan. When a candidate enters the stage the activity will appear you can manually complete the steps to send the request, or when the card
- Automatically adding the assessment to offer or hired stages
- Choose the stage you’d like to include the activity on while configuring the integration. When a candidate enters the designated stage, the corresponding activity will appear.
